Dear READS Community,
Please do everything you can to stay safe and healthy. Please follow guidance from our state and federal leaders. Avoid crowds. We will continue to follow our protocol of closing READS Programs and Services when a school district location or host school closes unless you are notified otherwise.
Decision to Close
On Friday Program Directors, READS Academy Lead Nurse, READS Business Manager and the Executive Director met to respond to district closings and other factors that would impact our programming. Until late on Friday, several of our member districts reported that they would remain open this coming week. It wasn’t until after schools were dismissed that it became known that most schools were making the decision to close for at least a week, in some cases two weeks, in other cases for longer. This decision was made in consultation with READS Board of Directors and Executive Directors of other collaboratives across the state.
Families - Several local school districts have a 1 hour time for ‘Grab and Go’ lunches for students at one of their district schools. Local food pantries are also providing food to families in need. Please check your town’s public information sites and school websites for time and location. We will do our best to compile this information and share it this week.
Please stay up to date with the latest information through resources that are posted in previous messages on this website and your local authorities.
We will post additional information regarding learning resources and other assistance on Monday. If your family is in critical need of support on how to get resources in your community please contact us at 508-947-3634 x100 and leave a message. Someone will get back to you.
Dr. Theresa A. Craig, Executive Director
